Cemetery information:- Old Anglican Cemetery behind the Lock Street jail in Fleet street, East London. The prison at Lock was built in 1880. The jail was abandoned in 1980 and was later taken over by the Small Business Development Council and turned into a shopping centre and museum. Grace Chapel was the first Anglican Church on the East Bank, built by Reverend von Hube in 1859 to serve the German community. When he left, focus was shifted to St Peter's on the West Bank. However, when the railway line was constructed in 1859 on the East Bank both churches were too small and so St John's Church was built.
