The foundation stone for the first building was laid on the 23 April 1881 and the Church was consecrated by Bishop Merriman on the 3rd Sept of that year. The rectory was completed in 1893. The first resident minister was the Revd A.H.D. Cass.
It was in 1907 that the Church was extended. This happened during the ministry of the Revd H.G. Mosel who served as Rector of this Parish for 46 years.
The current Parish Centre was the original rectory built in 1893 and the Lych Gate was built in 1912 in honour of Richard Smith. The Lych Gate was dedicated on the 27 October 1912.
After the First World War the community of Walmer worked hard to build the Memorial Hall to commemorate the men and women of Walmer who died in service during that war. The Hall was formally opened on the 11th October 1928 by the Revd J Pattison.
After many alterations and upgrades the old church was finally demolished and the present building erected in 1956. The building was Consecrated in 1968 during the ministry of Canon Ron Taylor.
The Current Church was built in 1956. Corner of Church Road and 8th Avenue, Walmer, Port Elizabeth, 6070.
