Cemetery information:-
Miller Mission was established by Rev. Dr William Anderson Soga in 1886. He was the eldest child of Rev. Tiyo Soga and his wife Janet nee Burnside. He was also the first qualified black doctor – at Glasgow University in 1883 - from and in SA. In 1904 he resigned his ministerial duties and moved to Elliotdale where he devoted himself to his large medical practice. His younger brother and author of The South-Eastern Bantu, Rev. John Henderson Soga, took over the mission in 1903. William Anderson died suddenly on the Elliotdale golf course in 1916. John Henderson, his wife and one son were killed in 1941 in a German bombing raid in Southampton.
