Born in Norfolk England 1825 died at Byrne in 1912, visiting his youngest sister Harriet Maria Watson and his daughter Mary Ann Dennill, seventh of eight children.
William’s wife, Mary (of Stony Hill, Richmond District) died in 1867 giving birth to their eighth child Thomas. This left William with 8 children ranging in age from 16 to a baby.
William’s youngest sister Harriet had married William Watson of Newborough Grange, Byrne.
Their marriage was childless but the couple “adopted” Mary Ann as a three year old and she lived and grew up with them at Byrne.
His remains were brought back to Isipingo so they could be interred next to his wife Mary. His headstone records this.

Mary’s maiden name is unknown but records show she came from Stony Hill which is in the Richmond District. Born in 1824, her death is recorded in the St. James’s Church Register as 1867.

Mary Ann is buried at St Mary Magdalene Cemetery Byrne.
