03. St. James’s Anglican Church, Isipingo
St James’s Church as shown in the news cutting is not the original church at Isipingo. The first church at Isipingo was erected and consecrated in 1856. In 1859 it was destroyed by fire and replaced by the church shown in 1872. In 1956, the Centenary of the Parish of Isipingo was celebrated from 28th October to 4th November with church services at the various parishes now in the area. Sadly in 1964, the Church of St James was demolished, leaving the adjoining Cemetery in dire straits. Last visited in 1995, the Cemetery was in a very bad way and totally neglected. Many headstones had been broken and vandalised. Its present status is unknown.
