Kwazulu-Natal, ESTCOURT district, Colenso, Clouston Field of Remembrance
Cemetery information:-
Clouston Garden of Remembrance was established on the koppie where Gnl Sir Redvers Buller has his headquarters during the Battle of Colenso 15 Dec 1899. Buller’s first attempt to cross the Thukela River and relieve Ladysmith met with disaster at the Battle of Colenso. Several brigade field hospitals were situated here, hence the wounded were brought here. This is also the site of first moving pictures taken of a battle.
In 1962, the bodies of those buried near Colenso were relocated here, together with their regimental mouments.
Located alongside the R103, about 5km from Colenso.
