2. Anglo Boer War Monument
IN MEMORIAM
On the 4th July 1901 during the
Anglo Boer War (1899-1902) an
English train was derailed by the
Commando of General BEYERS at
TOBIAS-ZIJN-LOOP. In the ensuring
skirmish the following British
Soldiers were killed:
Lt. BEST A.A.D. - Gordon Highlanders.
Cpl. BLYTH J. - Gordon Highlanders.
Cpl. WONOSTROCHT - Royal Engineers.
Pte. AITKEN W. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. BRADSHAW J. - Army Service Corps.
Pte. CHEYNE W. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. CROSBIE J. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. DUTHIE J. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. FLUKE F. - Wiltshire Regiment.
Pte. HENDERSON R. - Gordon Highlanders.
Gnr. KEARNS - Royal Field Artillery.
Pte. MITCHELL C. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. MITCHELL J. - Leicester Regiment.
Pte. NICHOLL J. - Gordon Highlanders.
Pte. ROBERTS T. - Royal Engineers.
Gd. KENNEDY P. - Imperial Military Railways.
