Pieter Johannes ERASMUS was born on 15.10.1884. He was the second son of Pieter Johannes ERASMUS *1 2.4.1851 and Johanna Gertina VAN DER WESTHUIZEN.
He died on 5.1.1897 at the youthful age of 15 years.
The inscription is written in High Dutch and read as follows:
“PIETER JOHANNES ERASMUS
Geboren in het jaar 1884 den 15 optober
En overleden in jaar 1897 den 5 Jannearie
….tel le…. plaats van godsdooden
ek dink aan u metsoete vreugd….seg gen ale…
….kon je alom o bleyde dag
dat al het mens geslagt aan den heer word toegebragt.”
