Cemetery information:-
The graveyard is very overgrown and the ground full of mole and aardvark holes which made it quite difficult to move around. There are other graves of packed stones. Nicolaas was the first Loubser to own the farm (1851) and his son, who inherited it is buried at Philadelphia. I went there as well to take some photographs. This graveyard is surrounded by a 2 m tall fence with razor wire, and you have to fetch the key to get in.
Earlier owners of Zouterivier were Johannes Louw from 1832, Pieter Johannes Louw from 1787 – I have not found their relationship. In 1780, Maria Jacoba de Jong purchased the opstal from Matthijs Greeff for 1000 guilders. (Information from Nigel Amschwand)
