CURTIS Ralph Bearwood -1944
Written on back of photo "Little Italian kids putting flowers onto graves at Castiglione" The cross is inscribed PTE CURTIS R.B. and C of E (Church of England?) and possibly UDF with the date 20-10-1944. The photograph was taken by Capt. Jack James Adendorff in 1944, the father of the contributor, MaryAnn Hill.

According to the South African War Graves Project, the grave is that of Private Ralph Bearwood CURTIS (Service no 578758) of Witwatersrand Rifles / Regiment de la Rey.
Killed in action, aged 20, son of Mr and Mrs R Curtis of Rosettenville, Johannesburg.
